If you are a transportation company and want to cross the border into Canada with commercial cargo, you need a Carrier Code. The Carrier Code is a 4 digit alpha/numeric code at the beginning of your PARS label or Cargo Control Number.

The CBSA issues one carrier code per mode per legal entity. Should subsidiary companies be separate legal entities from parent companies, each subsidiary company can apply for a carrier code.
